Just a short post about natural logarithms that is unrelated to all other posts. It is more of a note to self kind of thing.

Electromagnetic Radiation

So there is radiation all around every one of us!!!

You can't escape it so you should probably just get on with your life. I mean cancer, it isn't really a big deal.

Honestly, the term radiation refers to light. By light, I mean electromagnetic radiation.

Science takes terms to a whole new meaning.

Lets observe the different types of electromagnetic radiation (ER)

As light's wavelengths get longer, its frequency gets smaller.

We can observe this through the equation on the right.
It reads frequency is equal to the speed of the light (a constant) over the wavelength.
This shows an inverse relationship between a frequency and wavelength of a wave.

So what about the different types of waves:
Radio-Infrared are generally weak long waves
Visible Light- include waves that human eyes have the ability to see
Ultraviolet-Gamma Rays are stronger and dangerous to human health. UV causes sunburn. X-rays and gamma rays are deadly with prolonged expose, but both have proven useful in the medical field.

Waves are all around us. You can't even see most of the waves surrounding you!

Keep posted for the next post: I'll go in depth with the relationship between particles and light waves. They are interconnected. This piece of knowledge explains so much about the universe. It will blow your mind.

Now for Chemistry Cat:

If you didn't get that now, you might get it after the next post...

Intro to Awesome

This be my intro post.

So I'm a college freshmen and a chemistry major. I'm only taking the first level chemistry major class. It has been a lot of work up to date, but it has been very rewarding.

I hope to share what I learn from chemistry in this blog:

Here are my reasons why

  • Writing and Publishing my Ideas gets me thinking about the subject matter
  • I get to share science with you
  • I can look back on this as review
  • SCIENCE RULES, especially CHEMISTRY!
Mostly, I'm writing for the last reason.

But this shall be awesome!!! My first real post will probably be on waves!!!

Why: there is a tsunami headed towards my home state.

I hope its force and amplitude significantly decrease as it gets close to Hawaii.

The blue box in the U.S. Geological Survey map shows the epicenter of the 7.7-magnitude quake that hit western Canada.
